Music
All Pre-Prep enjoy specialist music provision every week in a specially-designed Performing Arts studio.
The children learn to develop their music skills in a fun and stimulating way where they are able to safely express their creativity. The emphasis is on learning through singing; following a spiral curriculum, the musical elements such as pulse, rhythm and pitch are revisited and developed.
Songs, games and rhymes form the basis of music learning. Games aid in deepening listening skills and help young children to work cooperatively. From Nursery upwards the children have access to a range of musical instruments including glockenspiels, xylophones and keyboards. The Performing Arts studio also has a Smart Board and pupils also develop their musical skills through the use of programmes such as 'Groovy Music'.
Group Instrumental lessons - violin, recorder, 'cello and piano - are available from the spring term of Year 2 and skills developed in music lessons are built upon and transferred to instruments.
