Joining Us
A vibrant and thriving day school community of about 500 girls, 80 teaching staff and 25 support staff, St Gabriel's combines traditional Christian values and strong pastoral care with a progressive, 'real world' attitude. Our School is situated in the spectacular setting of Sandleford Priory, two miles south of Newbury and occupies a beautiful Grade 1 listed building in 54 acres of parkland landscaped by "Capability" Brown.
Visitors to St Gabriel's quickly recognise that it is no ordinary school. Offering the opportunity for a seamless, natural progression from Nursery through to Sixth Form, prospective and current parents constantly remark on the enthusiasm and sense of purpose of both the supportive staff, and the girls themselves. Consequently, girls at St Gabriel's experience exceptionally high achievements in so many aspects of school life and have the opportunity, resources, and confidence to exploit fully their natural individual potential, whether it is in the classroom, in the concert hall, on stage, on canvas or on the sports field.
With an ethos of mutual trust and respect between girls and their teachers it is hardly surprising that the Independent Schools Inspectorate concluded in the 2006 Inspection Report that
"The quality of relationships between staff and pupils is outstanding."
Consequently, their view that
"Pupils are good, often rapid, learners who have the confidence to articulate their ideas clearly and with confidence"
came as no surprise at all!
We are very proud of our School and would urge you to visit us if you have not already done so. I look forward to welcoming you to St Gabriel's in the future.
