A vibrant and thriving day school community of 450 children, 80 teaching staff and 25 support staff, St Gabriel's combines traditional Christian values and strong pastoral care with a progressive, 'real world' attitude.  Our school is situated in the spectacular setting of Sandleford Priory, to the south of Newbury, and occupies a beautiful Grade 1  listed building in 54 acres of parkland landscaped by Capability Brown.

Pupils at St Gabriel's experience exceptionally high levels of achievement in so many aspects of school life and have the opportunity, resources, and confidence to exploit fully their natural individual potential, whether it is in the classroom, in the concert hall, on stage, on canvas or on the sports field.

With a strong ethos of mutual trust and respect between pupils and their teachers it is hardly surprising that the Independent Schools Inspectorate concluded in the 2010 Inspection Report that

"Relationships between teachers and pupils are excellent.  The atmosphere in lessons is positive and conducive to learning.  Teachers, who are well qualified, know their pupils well as individuals, and by ability…."

Consequently, their view that

"The quality of teaching throughout the school is good and is effective in promoting the pupils’ progress, in line with the aims of the school.  The best lessons are of high quality and are inspirational, well constructed, well paced, and delivered by teachers who are totally secure and confident in their subject, and who are able to handle the twists and turns of challenging questions posed by pupils…"

came as no surprise at all!

We are very proud of our school and would urge you to visit us if you have not already done so. We look forward to welcoming you to St Gabriel's in the future.

Visitors to St Gabriel's quickly recognise that this is no ordinary school. Parents are always impressed by the sense of purpose and enthusiasm of the talented, committed staff and the confidence of the extremely happy pupils. We offer girls the opportunity for a seamless journey from Nursery through to Sixth Form, with our boys leaving us at the age of 11 for their senior schools.
