One Day One Goal

One Day One Goal promotes the power of football to unite people, give hope and strengthen peace-building efforts whilst raising awareness of Peace Day, Thursday, 21 September.

Our UN Peace Day match on Thursday, 21 September, saw a team from the Senior School up against the Sixth Form. The Senior School team, were 'managed' by Mr Spurrett and the Sixth Form by Mr Mannion. It was miserable weather, as it was raining and foggy. Despite the unfortunate weather, everyone played hard and had a good time. There was some impressive tackling and even a spectacular header from Kirsten Steel, 9G.

The first goal went to the Sixth Form much to Mr Mannion’s delight and although the senior girls fought hard, and had many attempts on goal, they didn't quite manage to score. The match finally came to a close at around 1:30pm, with Mr Spurrett cheering loudly for his team, though unfortunately it was 1:0 to the Sixth Form.

Visitors to St Gabriel's quickly recognise that this is no ordinary school. Parents are always impressed by the sense of purpose and enthusiasm of the talented, committed staff and the confidence of the extremely happy pupils. We offer girls the opportunity for a seamless journey from Nursery through to Sixth Form, with our boys leaving us at the age of 11 for their senior schools.
