John Harris visits Pre-Prep and Junior Schools
Storytelling fun
“If we want to encourage children to read we have to nurture their love of stories, and no-one can do that better than a good Storyteller.”
John Harris is one of only a handful of full-time professional Storytellers in Britain, and the only one who works exclusively with younger audiences. On 20th May the girls (and staff) in the Pre-prep and Junior departments were lucky enough to listen to the storytelling skill of John Harris. We heard a range of stories about hats, parties, very small people, bullies and many other topics. John Harris was a fascinating man to listen to and he delighted both children and staff. The girls were also given an opportunity to ask John Harris some questions about his life as a storyteller. Many girls also purchased a signed copy of his books Charlie’s key and Creature of Crete.
“John travels around the world telling such fantastic stories that we think he is the best storyteller in the world. He is a very good storyteller and he made us laugh. Charlie’s key is his first book and it won’t be the last. John Harris is a very good storyteller and he is the best!” Erin, Charlotte and Isabella (Year 2)
