Junior Football Tournament Victory

St Gabriel’s Junior footballers enjoyed success at the recent West Berkshire Schools 6-a-side tournament held at Thatcham Town FC. Many of our girls have been attending the Arsenal Soccer School held here on Saturday mornings and their skill levels were clear to see in all their matches.

The Year Five and Six team, captained by Anisa Khorassani, rallied well after a couple of tricky matches and some fine attacking play was rewarded with enough goals to send them through to the semi-finals. Despite raising their game to further heights, we were unlucky to concede defeat against a very accomplished John Rankin side.

Meanwhile on other pitches, the Year Three and Four team were brushing aside every opponent with ease, much to the delight of their families on the touchline. Good passing and finishing meant that we qualified for the final having scored 17 goals and conceded none. Although the final itself proved to be a much closer match, the girls were thrilled with a 1-0 victory which allowed captain Millie Quaintance to lift the trophy.
