Elizabeth Edwards (Year 10), Susie Harrison and Jessica Palfrey (Year 11) spent 4 days over the summer holidays at Vodafone HQ at the Coding For Girls events, where they learned how to code their own websites using HTML, CSS, GitHub and Twitter Bootstrap. The idea of the scheme is to encourage more girls to learn about coding and after applying using a digital interview, a totally new experience for them, all three girls were given places on the course.
The course was part of the UK-wide “Code First Girls” initiative, supported by Vodafone, to encourage more young women into STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
"I really enjoyed the experience of meeting lots of different people, who I have learned how to work and overcome challenges with. If I was given the opportunity to do it again, I would!"
