A 6D cinema experience taught us about the gorge's formation and geological origins, and then we were able to walk through the citrus groves to look out onto Venus' pool. Once our guide had shown us around the top of the gorge we took a lift down to the beach which lies between the cliffs. Our group quickly discovered how cold the water was in the river (despite the beautiful sunshine) and so we settled on the bank to enjoy the warmth and the surroundings.

Back up at the entrance to the park we enthusiastically sampled some more Sicilian cuisine from the restaurant and sat in the sunny picnic area where an accordion-player serenaded us. Finally, we boarded the bus for the last time and made our way to Catania airport for our flight home.
