Individual Sporting Success Stories

Our Sports Presentation Evening also celebrated the many individual sporting successes and the commitment to their sport outside school, shown by senior girls this year.

Ellie Cowan - Swimmer
Ellie from (Y10) was 8th in the U17 Individual Medley at the British Swimming Championships. She is currently 1st in British swimming rankings for her age group for the 200m Individual Medley. She also has 5 other top 10 British rankings in her age group for 100m, 200m Breaststroke, 100m, 200m Butterfly and the gruelling 400m Individual Medley. She is now training hard towards the British Summer Nationals, which are at the end of July in Sheffield, where she will swim in her age group as a 15 year old.

Isabelle Ryder - Showjumper
Izzi Ryder (Y10) added a gold medal with Team England to her show-jumping achievements, which include competing at the Royal International Horse Show and the Horse of the Year Show, more details on http://www.stgabriels.co.uk/showjumpingsuccess . Izzi trains at least 5 times a week 

Jessica Gill - Figure Skater
Jessica Gill (Y10) from has been nominated for the Young Sportsperson/Junior Ladies Award in the Basingstoke and Deane Sports Awards organised by the Voluntary Local Sport Council. She has obtained  her Level 10 Field Moves Test, this is the top level and competed at 'Skate Copenhagen' in Denmark in April. Jess has reduced her training to 3 times per week in preparation for exams.

Sophie Bundock - Netball
Sophie (Y11) captained Western Park Blades Netball U16 this year. She was a key player in taking them to the National Finals this year. Sophie trains with the team twice a week in addition to matches.

Mitzi Scott – Netball
Mitzi (Y12) is a South Regional Performance Academy athlete. In March, she captained a South of England U19 team and is currently a training partner for the Severn Stars U21 squad. Severn Stars is a Netball Superleague franchise and Mitzi is aiming to play for their U19 team in a national performance league next season.

Darcey Scott – Netball
Darcey (Y10) is a Netball South Regional Academy athlete. Played alongside Mitzi in the South U19 team. She is part of the Surrey Storm Development Squad and has been invited to trial for the Severn Stars U17 team. Darcey was also selected for Berkshire Hockey's U16 Academy Centre

Victoria Williams - Hockey
Vicky (Y11) has represented Wiltshire at U17 level for hockey and plays for Marlborough Ladies 1st Team.

Daisy Tolhurst- Cheerleading
Daisy (Y8) recently returned from the Cheerleading World Championships in Florida where her team, Crimson Heat Tigers, won the World Summit Championships Junior title. It was a fantastic achievement to beat American teams in their own gymnastics based sport in the USA!

Molly Cazaly - Sailing
Molly (Y8) has qualified for British Sailing National Championships.

Abigail Wilson - Rugby
Abi (Y11) has represented Berkshire at women’s rugby and is aiming to play for Berkshire and Newbury again next season.

Visitors to St Gabriel's quickly recognise that this is no ordinary school. We offer girls the opportunity for a seamless journey from Nursery through to Sixth Form, with our boys leaving us at the age of 11 for their senior schools.
