Business is a fascinating option for any girl interested in finding out more about the world in which we live. Girls are introduced to the subject by looking at small businesses and considering what makes a successful business person, as well as learning how to identify an opportunity and turn it into a successful business. Application of their knowledge to business contexts ranging from small to large businesses operating in local, national and global markets, the influences on business decision making and the interrelated nature of business activity ensure the course provides a topical and challenging introduction to business.
Students develop as effective and independent learners. They become critical and reflective thinkers with enquiring minds who appreciate the range of perspectives of different stakeholders and are able to consider the extent to which business and economic activity can be ethical and sustainable.
Challenge & Extension: A range of enrichment opportunities to further promote interest in business related issues are provided. These are open to all girls, whether studying business or not and include:
- IFS Student Investor Challenge (Teams of 4 aged 14+)
- Nat West Money Sense Programme
- Business Club
- Young Enterprise Tenner Scheme
