Condover Hall Netball Residential

After a long journey up to Condover Hall, the 55 strong St Gabriel’s netballers were excited to get started in the netball tournament. The netball was split into morning and afternoon sessions so you could do activities in the morning if in year 9,10,11 and netball in the afternoon and vice versa for year 7 & 8. The netball started at full speed as there were three teams competing in the year 7 and 8 combined league. Each team had to learn from each other and their coach as the morning went on, with huge steps forward being made especially from our new year 7 team. Most of the year 7 and 8 teams then got a rest and opportunity to take on some of Condover's brilliant outdoor and adventurous activities. This meant year 9,10 and 11 were due on court.

Outdoor Activities

After some fun activities in the morning including a team game of laser quest, year 11 got underway with their first match firing on all cylinders. The year 11 team with Olivia and Saba playing up from year 10 got off to a great start winning all 4 matches which saw them through to the cup competition on the second day. In the year 9 & 10 sections there were mixed fortunes as some of the teams played against some incredibly experienced teams, the overall mood was positive though as each group were happy to be back playing and enjoying the fast pace of tournament play. After a full day of netball and activities some of the year 7-11’s managed to hit the silent disco and dance away the last of their energy, while others chose the more relaxed approach of staying in and around the dorm rooms.

On Sunday, the positive feelings continued as each team played their final matches, this included year 9A who finished 3rd overall in a very strong competition and year 11 who made the final. The team made it through to the final against St Mary's Ascot. After a slow start to the match the team stepped up and narrowly missed out on the win by 2 goals. However, the team were all delighted with the result as it was the first time they had played together as a group and each person seemed to grow into their position as the weekend went on.
