As part of the new Classical Civilisation specification, Year 10, 11, and 12 classicists took a trip to the British Museum to learn from some of the exhibits. Year 10 and 11 focused on the Bassae frieze, while Year 12 took a tour of the Parthenon marbles and Greek statuary. The groups were excited to find the original artefacts that they had been studying during lesson time in the flesh, and we all saw an abundance of new and fascinating things. Highlights included handling ancient Chinese coinage, finding the Theseus kylix, and recreating statue poses.
A tradition as old as school trips to museums saw Year 10 replicating statue poses with eerie accuracy.
