Harvest Festival

Our annual celebration of harvest was led by the Reverend Joy Mawdesley from St Nicolas' Church, Newbury. The Junior School's rendition of 'Thank Your Lucky Stars' complete with actions encouraged us to 'be thoughtful and grateful for all the food we eat' and to 'share what we have with those that we love and life will get better'. Year 7 read prayers, Senior School Scholars provided excellent musical accompaniment and a reading by Head Girl Philippa Lazarus ensured this was a whole school service. The Reverend Joy's entertaining talk was linked to the Mr Men, so engaged pupils at all levels in the school; Dr Tebbs' ability to identify Mr Men was also impressive!

We were delighted to support the West Berkshire Foodbank with our gifts of tinned and packaged produce. The foodbank was set up by local churches and community groups, with support from the Greenham Common Trust, to work together towards relieving hunger in our local area. Roger Ryton, from West Berkshire Foodbank delivered two very informative assemblies for both Junior and Senior School pupils in the previous week, to help pupils understand how their donations would help needy families and individuals in the local area. The collection of goods delivered to the Foodbank weighed 231.5kg  which is the equivalent to 208 meals for those in need.
