Textiles Trip to the Knitting & Stitching Show

On Thursday 6 of October, the entirety of Year 9, as well as textiles students from Years 10 and 11 visited the Knitting and Stitching show in Alexandra Palace in London.

This was a great exhibition that displayed many textiles works from a variety of artists. It was an amazing opportunity for us to meet the artists and learn about their work first hand. We learnt that creating such pieces takes perseverance, creativity, skill, and individuality. We also learnt about different techniques such as quilting, cross-stitching, knitting, crochet, and hand stitching. There was a range of products we could purchase from stalls held by the creators such as clothing patterns, crochet kits, fabrics, and other sewing tools that allow us to create our own textiles pieces. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and we learnt a lot about what textiles as a subject has to offer!
