Bumper Harvest supporting West Berkshire Foodbank

At our annual Harvest Festival event on Monday 7 October, pupils donated a staggering 487kg of items on the West Berkshire Foodbank's needs list. This is the approximate equivalent of 48 food parcels, with each parcel contains 9 meals plus toiletries and household items for a family in need. Pupils had learned about the work of the Foodbank from one of their volunteers in assembly  last week.

Our Harvest Celebration was led by the Reverend Joy Mawdesley and Marcia Wadham from St Nicolas' Church, Newbury. Traditional hymns such as "We Plough the Fields and Scatter" were accompanied by Dr Tebbs and a Senior School quartet. The Junior School's enthusiastic rendition of "Rock and Roll Harvest" and Reception's delightful action song "The Big Red Combine Harvester" provided a fun, modern twist.

Prayers were read by Sophie from Year 11 whilst the reading by Head Girl Ellie, was from Luke's Gospel recounting the Parable of the Rich Fool who stored up his grain rather than sharing it with others. Aptly demonstrated by the generosity of our community in supporting West Berkshire Foodbank to help families and individuals in need.
