Science encompasses a mixture of traditional and forward-looking teaching. Our vision is to share our passion and enthusiasm for the sciences with all pupils. Girls embrace challenge, experiment with the unknown and, above all, enjoy a practical approach. We pride ourselves on being ‘hands-on’, open and engaging.

The combined science approach in Year 7 enables the development of content covered in the Junior School, ensuring all new entrants to the Senior School have covered the core concepts in the three sciences before embarking on the GCSE science curriculum in Year 9. There are clinics to aid with homework and the Sixth Form science prefects act as learning mentors to the younger pupils.

These two years provide a very full, exciting and challenging science education where girls are invited to develop their practical skills; challenge their inquiring minds, and become aware of the inspirational world around them.

Challenge & Extension: There are plenty of opportunities to pursue science outside the curriculum such as visits, Science Club and attending talks by guest speakers.

Visitors to St Gabriel's quickly recognise that this is no ordinary school. Parents are always impressed by the sense of purpose and enthusiasm of the talented, committed staff and the confidence of the extremely happy pupils. We offer girls the opportunity for a seamless journey from Nursery through to Sixth Form, with our boys leaving us at the age of 11 for their senior schools.
